Margo at Eight Months
We went to the beach last week, so I'm late for this update, but I do have amazing photographs. All but the first two in this post were taken by the talented Melissa Jones <3.
Most of the time though, you are quiet and content. The biggest trouble you give us is when you see your dad or I leave the room. This always gets us a super-drama fuss, but the moment we come back to you, you're totally fine.
Margo, you loved the beach. Not in a super smiley way, but in an extremely inquisitive way which reminded me of your brother's constant state as a baby. You kept this wrinkle in your eyebrows as you closely examined the sand by yourself and splashed your hands over and over in the water. You didn't cry once on the sand, instead you squirmed in my arms to get back down and explore.
So, you are 8 months and a few days old. The time has completely flown by. I'm aware of how fast it goes, but it seems like it's going even faster and I barely ever put you down. You've become extremely used to being in either my or your dad's arms.
You are breastfeeding in "snacking" sessions ALL DAY. Sometimes you nurse all night and sometimes you only eat once. You are eating 2 steady meals a day, although when they happen is still random (whenever you get fussy and I have NO milk left, we feed you). Your favorites are those good old pouches, bananas, watermelon, strawberries, and raw sweet peppers. You don't have any teeth yet, but you PUT DOWN some deli roast beef this week which was pretty impressive.
You are still taking 3 one-hour naps a day, although a few days you've surprised me with 2. We were doing modified crying until this last week when we went on vacation and I rocked you down for all sleep sessions which was HARD. You fight those last few steps into dream land and you kick your legs every time you're almost there to wake yourself back up. We're back home now so it's back to a few tears. You still sleep with us half the night and every month I get closer and closer to being ready to give that up. The carrier is a sure-fire way to put you to deep-sleep but it takes a long time, like at least 30 minutes, and the transition to bed is always a tricky one.
You're officially mobile this month! You're army crawling everywhere and you're REALLY persistent about doing what you want. If we pick you up before you get to your goal or take something away from you, you scream. You're quick to drop it most of the time, but sometimes you do this tantrum thing where you arch your back and give such amazing baby-drama I can hardly believe it. Sometimes you get into babbling and you pretend talk, but the only consonant you've really mastered is b - bababawababa.
