Lane at 9 months

Stop it.  We're at 9 months already?  Already?  Time is doing strange things.

This has been another big month for you.  You have one scraggly tooth - a fang more like it - that busted through a week ago and has been growing steady ever since.  With the way you've been acting today, I'm positive more are right behind.  You're finally getting some chub rolls on your legs and you've been pooching your belly out now to make an adorable baby tummy, but you're still long and lean with not a lot of baby fat and you're steady in 6-9 month clothing.

You have become insanely fast with crawling.  I set you down and literally two seconds later, you are in another room.  You've somehow picked up that the word "no" means "I have to play with that" and speed towards everything with that label - dog treats, outlets, shoes, coffee mugs.  You pull up to standing in your crib every time we put you down "drowsy".  You can also pull up on the couch, a chair, and in your play pen without any bars or anything.  Da is the only word you know for sure.  When you wake up in the mornings, you look at Colt and say, "Dad" clear as day.

Sometimes you eat, and sometimes you don't.  You like bread - pita with hummus, bits of bagels, puffs.  I think it's a texture thing.  You don't like the slippery frustration of trying to pick up fruit or vegetables with your fingers.  You will also happily eat broccoli, but we don't give this to you often as it keeps you awake with stomach aches.

Who knows what's going on in the sleep department.  I've stopped trying and instead, we are just surviving.  You take two naps a day, but they're a struggle.  You sleep at night sometimes and sometimes you don't, and both of these are struggles too.  I could write about sleep forever, but I'm trying not to feed any more negative energy into it.

I can't believe you are 9 months already, really.  You are awesome and complicated already, kid and I'm so in love with you.
